Pocket-Tech 300 by Gram Precision
The following instructions are reproduced word for word from the original instructions that were included with scales that we received from the manufacturer in late October 2003.

Please read complete instructions before use.

Pocket-Tech 300 Digital ScaleThank you for purchasing this high precision scale. With normal care and treatment it will provide years of reliable service. Please read all operating instructions carefully.

KEEP THE FOLLOWING POINTS IN MIND:
  • Avoid lengthy exposure to extreme heat or cold, your scale works best when operated within the specified temperature range. Always allow the unit to acclimate to a normal room temperature before use

  • Allow sufficient warm up time. (Usually 30 seconds before calibration) to give the internal components a chance to stabilize.

  • The cleaner the environment the better. Dust, dirt, moisture, vibration, air currents and proximity to other electronic equipment can all cause an adverse effect on the reliability and accuracy of your scale.

  • Handle with care. Gently apply all items to be weighed onto the tray top. Although designed to be quite durable, try to avoid rough treatment as this may permanently damage the internal sensor.
Pocket Tech 300 Digital ScaleOPERATION

Battery Operation:
  1. Two "AAA" size ALKALINE batteries are required.
  2. To install battery:
    • Release the battery cover by sliding the locks sideways.
    • Place batteries into battery compartment aligned correctly.
    • Replace battery cover and lock it. DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE!
  3. The scale is now ready for battery operation.
CALIBRATION

Important:

Always perform calibration procedure after first turning the unit on and allowing time for it to warm up and stabilize. 30 seconds should be sufficient. For best results repeat this procedure at regular intervals if scale is to be actively weighing for prolonged periods.

Calibration Procedure:

  1. Turn the scale on and allow it to stabilize for 30 seconds. Press and hold the "CAL/MODE" key for 4 seconds, the display will read "CAL" then display calibration weight. Place the correct calibration weight gently on the tray top.
  2. When calibration is complete the unit will briefly display "F". After 3 seconds in displaying "F", auto shut off power.

NOTE: If "E" appears instead of "F" this indicates calibration error has occurred and the calibration process should be repeated. "E" can occur if you have not followed the calibration steps in the correct order or due to an incorrect calibration weight being applied.
FEATURES

Power Up Segment Test

When first turning the unit on, all segments of the display will appear as shown below. This display will remain for approximately 3 seconds and then reset to zero.

Overload

When an applied load exceeds the capacity. "E" will appear on the display. Remove the excessive load immediately. The unit should return to normal operation.

Negative Value

Any tared value or a value left in memory will be displayed as a negative number once all weight is removed from the unit. Depress tare to return the unit to zero.

Tare

The tare feature is designed to allow the user to reset the scale to zero. The principal uses are to eliminate the value of a pan liner, scoop, beaker etc. To do this, place the container on the weighing tray, wait for a stable reading and then press "TARE". The unit returns to zero and the weight value of the container is permanently removed from the remainder of the procedure. NOTE: When all weight is removed from the weighing tray, the tared value of the container will be displayed as a negative number. Press the "TARE" again to return to zero.

Memory

The memory function is designed to allow the user to store values and to then progressively add these values into a sample or procedure. Unlike the tare feature, the unit returns to zero and a memory indication appears at the upper left of the display. After a subsequent weight is added, press memory again. The original value is added to the current value giving the total gross weight of the current sample. This is useful when different samples are needed and a total gross weight of all samples is required.

Auto Off

An auto shut off feature is provided to conserve battery power. The unit will automatically turn off after approximately 4 minutes if no active weighing takes place. Auto shut off will occur with or without a weight applied to the unit, however the unit will stay "ON" under active loading or unloading of weight.
